Important for the customer to know is that “green” energy has now become more cost-efficient because of the efficiency and because of the low cost of the Archimedes urban wind turbine. The unique product has been developed by Dutch renewable energy start-up, The Archimedes. By doing this the wind speed’s effect (in kinetic energy) on the rotor is maximized and “lift” is obtained by the wind’s acceleration over the rotor area. Trust the Dutch, who have a reputation of producing energy from wind to come up with a high performing silent wind turbine. Our turbine rotor captures the kinetic energy of the wind due to its speed, and, by reversing the wind and reducing it to almost zero Beaufort converts it into mechanical energy. However, this difference in pressure also has a negative effect called “drag”. Most today’s wind turbines require that a difference in pressure between the front and the rear side of the rotor blades be maintained in order to be effective. The yearly output is expected to be 4x the output of the 1.5 meter diameter AWM.
The first prototype is being field tested at a location in Korea. This AWM is equipped with a 2 kW generator. Ketech is developing a 2.8 meter diameter AWM.
#ARCHIMEDES WIND TURBINE GENERATOR#
This AWM will be equipped with a 2 kW generator which can increase the output close to 4000 W at maximum. This creates a three-dimensional conical turbine, similar to elongated shells found on the beach. This type of turbines blade has solved the noise problem these small household turbines have been known for. Supported by old documents from Archimedes we revived the ancient Greek mathematician’s work, and developed new theories and techniques that more closely follow the natural laws of physics for energy.
